Surizome is a direct application of plant based dyes or mineral pigment in the form of a concentrated paste. It can be used and applied in several ways, I love using the stencil technique with a katagami (a Japanese stencil made of washi paper impermeabilised with fermented Kaki) that I hand cut as needed.
As always, the fabric must first be prepared and mordanted: quite a few steps before the final and much anticipated reveal
