Indigo shibori Eri silk scarf

180.00

Eri silk is also known as peace silk, as the silk worm is allow to exit the cocoon before it is unwrapped to create the thread. The resulting fabric is quite different from the shine and smoothness usually associated with silk, rather it feels a bit like linen but is much lighter. With use, it becomes ever so soft and malleable, to me it is the ultimate luxury fabric: understated and such a pleasure to wear.

I use a hand-spun and hand-woven eri silk from Assam, sourced through  We are Kal. The hand made quality of this fabric is revealed with the dye, and the irregular weaves add subtle patterns to the scarf.

The pattern is created with a nui shibori pattern, dyed with indigo.

Dimensions: approximatively 50 x 200 cm
